Through the learning activities in nistawehtamowin, ᓂᐢᑕᐍᐦᑕᒧᐏᐣ (Coming to Know the Self), learners will come to a greater appreciation and understanding of how community relationships influences our concept of self. In support of learning about community relationships, knowledge of local protocols is shared. Through stories, learners will come to know the relationships that connect them to each other and to the places and events in the Wabasca-Desmarais area.
Through the learning activities in moyehtamowin atinistawehtamihk aske, ᒧᔦᐦᑕᒧᐏᐣ ᐊᑎᓂᐢᑕᐍᐦᑕᒥᕁ ᐊᐢᑫ (Coming to Know the Land), learners will come to a greater appreciation and understanding of how they are connected to specific places of personal significance but how changes over time have impacted the community. The land-use transfer of Kâpaskwatinâk is used as a learning opportunity to explore how local families and the community have developed changing relationships with the lands within traditional Bigstone Cree territory.
Through the learning activities in nahetamowin / nakayatsowin / nistawehtamowin, ᓇᐦᐁᑕᒧᐏᐣ / ᓇᑲᔭᐟᓱᐏᐣ / ᓂᐢᑕᐍᐦᑕᒧᐏᐣ (Coming to Know North Wabasca Lake), learners will come to a greater appreciation and understanding of how they are connected to specific places of significance in the northeast shore area of North Wabasca Lake. Through personal research, learners will engage local Elders, oskapewak, traditional Knowledge Keepers, family and community members in exploring through story and site visits the knowledge of the northeast shore area of North Wabasca Lake regarding people, events and specific locations.
